Colour analysis questions, answered

Colour analysis — often spelled color analysis — is a way of working out which colours genuinely suit you, based on your own colouring rather than on what is in season. These are the questions we get asked most.

What is colour analysis?
Colour analysis, often spelled color analysis, is a method for working out which colours suit you based on your natural colouring rather than on trends. It groups colours into seasons, and the shades within your season tend to make you look rested and well, while the wrong ones can make you look tired or washed out.
How does Chromatastic work?
You upload one photo. Chromatastic analyses it and returns your colour season along with a personalised palette of specific shades, plus a style guide and a make-up guide. You can then use those colours to decide what to buy and what to leave on the rail.
Do I need a professional in-person consultation instead?
An in-person consultation is lovely if you want one, but it usually costs a few hundred pounds and takes a couple of hours. Chromatastic gives you the same core answer, which colours suit you and which do not, from a photo, so you can start using it straight away.
How much does Chromatastic cost?
Chromatastic is available on iPhone and on the web. The app is free to download and there are in-app purchases for your colour analysis and reports. You can download a complete sample colour report before you pay anything, so you know exactly what you are getting.
What if I do not like my results?
Your season is a starting point, not a rule. Most people find one or two shades they are not ready to wear, and that is fine. The palette is there to make decisions easier, not to tell you what you are allowed to own.
Will this help me spend less on clothes?
That is the point. Most wasted spending comes from buying things that look good on the rail but never work once they are home. Knowing your colours means fewer mistakes, fewer returns, and a wardrobe where more pieces already go together.
Can I ask questions about my own wardrobe?
Yes. The Chromatastic WhatsApp community is where members share real outfit decisions and buying dilemmas and get honest feedback. It is optional, and you can join from the community section of this site.
