Privacy Notice & Community Guidelines

Privacy notice#

Your privacy#

Your privacy is important to us. We wouldn’t want people mistreating our information, so we do everything we can to safeguard yours. Any information we collect is only used in ways for which you have consented, or where it is necessary to provide our services.

Who we are#

Eleni Mertyri currently operates Chromatastic. For the purposes of data protection law, Chromatastic is the data controller.

What information we collect, and how#

When you visit our website. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used. Both are switched off until you accept them — see Cookies and analytics below.

When you sign up with an email. When you register for a trial or paid service, we collect your full name, email address and profile icon. We do not record or store credit card details. Payments are handled securely by Stripe or Apple Pay. We only retain payment references such as payment IDs, invoice information and amounts, for accounting and legal purposes.

When you join a Chromatastic community, including WhatsApp groups. If you request to join, we collect your name, your mobile phone number, your consent to join, and any messages, images or content you choose to share within the group. Participation is optional and based on explicit consent.

Please note that within a WhatsApp community your phone number and WhatsApp profile are visible to other members, messages you share can be seen by other participants, and WhatsApp (Meta) independently processes your data under its own privacy policy.

Cookies and analytics#

We use two analytics tools. Neither sets a cookie, and neither collects anything about you, until you press Accept on the cookie banner. Until then they run in a consent-denied mode. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

ToolWhat it doesCookiesTypical duration
Google Analytics 4Counts visits and tells us which pages are useful_ga, _ga_*Up to 2 years
Microsoft ClarityRecords browsing sessions and builds heatmaps, so we can see where the site confuses people_clck, _clsk, CLIDUp to 1 year

Microsoft Clarity records how you move through and interact with pages. It masks text input by default. If you would rather not be recorded, press Reject on the cookie banner, and nothing is recorded.

Strictly necessary storage — remembering your cookie choice itself — is kept in your browser’s local storage and is not used for tracking.

How we use your data#

We use your personal data only to create and manage your Chromatastic account, to provide access to our services and features, to communicate with you about support or service matters, and to manage and moderate Chromatastic community spaces where you have chosen to participate.

We do not sell your personal data.

We process your personal data under one or more of the following legal bases: consent (for example joining community groups, optional communications, and analytics cookies); contractual necessity (for example providing paid services); and legal obligation (for example accounting and tax requirements). You may withdraw consent at any time.

Third parties#

We may share limited personal data with trusted third parties where necessary to provide our services:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Apple — payment processing and mobile app services
  • Google Analytics — website analytics (consent-based)
  • Microsoft Clarity — website session recording and analytics (consent-based)
  • Netlify — website hosting
  • Cloudflare — DNS, security and performance
  • DigitalOcean — cloud services
  • Google — cloud services
  • Namecheap — domain registration and email services
  • Mailgun — transactional email

These providers may process data outside the UK or EEA. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are in place.

Data retention#

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide our services or to meet legal obligations. If you leave a Chromatastic community or request deletion, we will remove your data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law — invoices, for example.

Your rights#

You have the right to access your personal data, to correct or update it, to request its deletion, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Requests can be made by contacting support@chromatastic.com.

You can withdraw consent at any time by leaving the WhatsApp group or by contacting us at support@chromatastic.com. Leaving a group will not affect your access to the Chromatastic app or website.

Community guidelines#

(Chromatastic WhatsApp and styling communities)

Purpose of the community#

The Chromatastic Styling Community exists to help members make better outfit and shopping decisions using seasonal colour analysis. The goal is simple: fewer bad buys, better colour choices, more confidence.

Who can join#

18+ only. Invite-only. Participation is optional.

How to post#

Share a photo of an outfit, an item of clothing, or a shopping option. Mention your season if you know it. Ask a clear, specific question — for example, “Does this work for a Soft Autumn?”

How to reply#

Be kind and constructive. Explain why something works or doesn’t — colour, contrast, tone. No judgment; everyone is learning.

Respect and behaviour#

Be respectful and inclusive. No harassment, bullying or shaming. No unsolicited selling, promotions or private DMs. Do not share other members’ content outside the group without permission.

Images and content#

Only share images you have the right to share. Avoid sharing images of other people without their consent. Content shared remains the responsibility of the person posting it.

Moderation#

Chromatastic moderators reserve the right to remove messages that breach these guidelines, and to remove members who repeatedly or seriously breach the rules. These measures keep the community safe and supportive.

Leaving the group#

You may leave the group at any time. Leaving also withdraws your consent to community participation.
